This is a full-time, permanent position.

The Centre for Biomolecular Sciences requires an organised and flexible individual to provide day to day assistance in the operation of a busy purchasing office and goods receiving area. You must be well motivated and able to work without close supervision as well as work within a team environment.

The role will involve receiving goods and supplies - some of which will be hazardous chemicals. This is a physically demanding role, involving a large amount of manual handling. The role will also require the flexibility to cover the reception area during holiday and absences.  Full training will be given for all aspects of the role.

Candidates should have GCSE’s or equivalent, together with previous experience in a relevant role. Candidates should have good organisational skills, be able to prioritise work and have the ability to communicate effectively at all levels with staff and students. A basic understanding of COSHH and safety related issues is desirable. Knowledge and experience of Agresso will be an advantage.

The Business Systems Development Team within Corporate Systems at The University of Nottingham is responsible for maintaining and developing over 90 corporate business systems within the University.
Two permanent posts of Analyst Programmer are available to ensure that these corporate business systems can be efficiently maintained and supported to allow for the business systems to function effectively.
The successful candidates will be experienced Analyst Programmers used to working within a challenging and fast-moving environment. Meeting deadlines within tight timescales and working to the highest possible standard is a must for this role.
As members of the Business Systems Development Team, you will need to be able to work with staff at all levels of organisation, including colleagues from other divisions and across the wider University.
Educated to degree level or equivalent, or with suitable experience, you must be able to demonstrate significant first-hand experience of developing a wide range of business systems.
Key requirements for these posts are an understanding of the principles of developing quality software. You will be required to have a sound knowledge and experience of windows programming languages (VB6 / VB.net / C# / xml) and web programming languages (ASP.net / html / VBScript). An understanding of MS SQL server based systems and Transact SQL, MS Operating Systems and networking (AD) is also required. Knowledge of enterprise data analysis and reporting tools is also required along with a proactive approach and excellent organisational, interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.

Through the Midlands Energy Graduate School, we are training significant numbers of postgraduate students to help satisfy the increasing national demand for highly capable industrialists, decision-makers and academics in the low carbon energy sector.  The project has now made some significant achievements and we need to communicate them effectively to a wide range of stakeholders.


The purpose of the role of Midlands Energy Graduate School Marketing and Communications Manager (MEGS) is to take a strategic role in communicating project achievements to stakeholders from the public and private sector.  The role will involve both planning and implementing a wide range of activities, from generating new content for use in web and print media to representing the Midlands Energy Graduate School and the Midlands Energy Consortium at external events.

Candidates must have a good honours degree (or equivalent) in an area related to marketing and communications, experience of working in the HE sector and the ability to motivate, negotiate and influence both individuals and teams with excellent communication skills.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing first line support to the university community for IT-related support requests received via telephone, email and self-service.
Candidates must have A minimum of 2 A-Levels in relevant subjects, or equivalent vocational qualifications (NVQ, City & Guild), plus some experience in a relevant technical/scientific role or considerable work experience in a relevant technical role and a successful track record in a similar technical support role, including troubleshooting Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office products, E-mail and Internet-based services. Excellent communication and customer service skills are also essential.
The hours of work are 36.25 per week  Monday to Friday. The IT Helpline is open between 8.00 and 18.00 therefore some flexibility is required.

The Quality Assurance Manager will provide support for the Head of Quality and Standards by assuming responsibility for a number of activities, including annual monitoring and periodic review, ensuring full compliance with the QAA Quality Code Chapter on External Examining, and in addition proposing changes to the Quality Manual to meet the expectations of the QAA Quality Code for Higher Education.  In addition, the postholder will manage the administration of development work on two projects under the directorship of the Director of Teaching and Learning: the curriculum review and assessment project in liaison with the Curriculum Review and Assessment Adviser, and administration of the Academic Development project in liaison with the Academic Development Adviser.

Candidates should be educated to a minimum of degree level (or equivalent), have a proven track record in a relevant professional role and excellent IT and communication skills.  Experience of working in a similar or related role in Higher Education is desirable.

Hours of work are 36¼ per week (normally 8.45 am - 5.00 pm Monday to Friday inclusive).  This post will be offered on a fixed-term contract for a period of 24 months.

The post is an exciting opportunity to the Nottingham Clinical Trials Unit (NCTU). The unit is a rapidly growing academic unit within the University of Nottingham that supports clinical trials within the University and local NHS trust. 

The unit is seeking to recruit an Administrator to support the day-to-day running of the NCTU. 
The post holder will be expected to provide efficient and responsive administrative and secretarial support to the Unit, the NCTU Director and Deputy Directors, and to the NCTU Senior Management Team. The post holder will work closely with the unit’s project administrators to ensure smooth running of the programme of work.  The post holder will not require direct supervision. The ability to work effectively, efficiently and flexibly within a multidisciplinary team is essential.

Candidates should have significant experience in a secretarial /administrative role; expert in Microsoft outlook, word and excel, whilst proficient in other Microsoft packages. They should have good written and verbal communication skills with a strong customer focus. They should have strong problem solving skills and demonstrate planning and organisational skills. Previous experience of this type of role in a health research environment is essential.

The University has established a new Veterinary School, which graduated its first students in July 2011.  This exciting development provides an opportunity for a Postgraduate Administrator for the School of Veterinary Medicine and Science, based at Sutton Bonington.

This is a key position providing administrative support for both postgraduate taught and research courses within the School of Veterinary Medicine and Science.

This position is a busy and varied role involving daily communication with academic staff, students, Academic Services and potential applicants; the post holder will need to have excellent organisational skills, demonstrate a good use of initiative and have the ability to multi-task and prioritise.

The role also provides support for teaching, learning and assessment for postgraduate taught courses, including uploading and updating web-based teaching activities within the School and other duties associated with teaching and academic support which are vital to ensure a quality learning experience; a thorough and meticulous approach is required along with excellent IT skills, including the range of Microsoft applications; experience of a virtual learning environment would be advantageous.

Candidates must be educated to GCSE standard and have previous administrative experience at a level which requires a minimum of supervision or have significant administrative experience at a level which requires a minimum of supervision..
