The Preliminary Year Programme is offered to students in their first year of study at UNNC and represents 120 academic credits. The programme is currently a 50-50 split between modules focusing on specific academic subjects and modules focusing on the development of English Language skills. Successful completion of the Preliminary Year is a pre-requisite for progression to the second year of study.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified teaching professionals able to offer experience and expertise in one or more of the following academic subject areas: Maths, Physics & Chemistry.
The successful candidate will have module convener responsibility for one or more taught modules and as such will be actively involved in issues around curriculum design, delivery and assessment. Depending of aptitude & experience there is also scope for involvement in managing projects such as the design and delivery of summer schools and other bespoke training packages.
Candidates should have a Bachelors degree in Maths/Physics/Chemistry or relevant field, recognised QTS (qualified teacher status) as evidenced by an appropriate PGCE or other professionally accredited qualification and have experience of full-time teaching in one or more of the named core areas (Maths, Physics and Chemistry). Substantial experience of teaching maths, physics, chemistry or other science-related subjects at the secondary/post-secondary level.
Salary will be within the range RMB 380,452 - RMB 454,279 per annum, depending on skills and qualifications, salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance. An attractive package, including accommodation allowance, flights and insurance will be provided for international appointments.
The post is available from 1 September 2012 and will initially be offered on a fixed-term contract with the University of Nottingham, Ningbo, China for a period of up to five years. Counsellor – English and Mandarin Speaking

A University Counselling Service was established on the Ningbo campus in 2009, and was established with the same pattern and codes of practice as the University Counselling Service at the University of Nottingham. It is a free, professional, confidential service available to all staff and students of the University community on the Ningbo campus.
The successful candidate will be required to work under the direction of the existing Counsellor who has established the service. The core service offered will be individual counselling, and it is a requirement of this post that the candidate is able to offer sessions in both English and Mandarin. The appointed candidate will be expected to work within BACP ethics, and to have cognisance of the particular cultural context of China. The service is a pioneering venture, and the successful candidate will have qualities of strong professional integrity, and the capacity to take initiative and to work closely with the senior counsellor.
The successful candidate will be a Counsellor/Psychotherapist who is experienced in and able to offer short and long-term counselling/psychotherapy to both student and staff members of the University community. Candidates should have experience of working with a wide range of cultural diversity. Candidates should be qualified counsellors or psychotherapists and hold BACP accreditation/UKCP registration or equivalent. Experience of working in Higher Education is desirable, experience of working in trans-cultural settings would be valuable, and experience of therapeutic group work and/or conducting workshops would be an advantage.
A salary of up to RMB 309,343 per annum is available depending upon skills and experience. Salary may progress up to 338,287 subject to performance. Professor of Energy Technologies

Make an impact and lead on the development of research in technologies to provide cleaner fossil energy solutions to meet the growing global energy demand. An academic with international standing is sought to take the lead for the Energy Technologies of the International Doctoral Innovation Centre, a major partnership between the University of Nottingham (China and UK), Ningbo Science & Technology Bureau and Ningbo Education Bureau to educate and develop 100 leading talents in both energy and digital technologies through a pioneering cross-campus international doctoral training centre. They will instigate successful research partnerships with industry and will participate in the Energy Technologies Research Institute (http://www.energy.nottingham.ac.uk).
The appointment will be based in the Division of Engineering at Ningbo Campus, a centre of internationally-leading research that has a reputation for excellence in engineering.
Ningbo is located only 2½ hours from Shanghai by car. It is a relatively high-income city for China, with a per capita income (PPP basis) of about US $12,000. Ningbo has one of China’s largest deep-water ports, a modern airport with excellent connections to cities such as Beijing, Hong Kong, Seoul and Taipei and high-speed rail connections to other major cities in China. It has international schools, excellent shopping facilities and an attractive multicultural nightlife. It also has many rivers, lakes and mountains in the outskirts and is considered to be one of the cities in China which has the best quality of life.
Candidates must have a PhD in a relevant discipline such as a physical science (Chemistry, Physics , Mathematics, chemical and mechanical engineering, materials) and have a proven research track record in fossil energy research that will compass, cleaner coal technologies, CO2 capture, oil and gas processing, gas to liquids and hydrocarbon conversion processes. Excellent English communication skills are essential together with strong teaching abilities. Candidates are also expected to have demonstrated an ability to conduct high-quality research and attract research funding.

It has international schools, excellent shopping facilities and an attractive multicultural nightlife. It also has many rivers, lakes and mountains in the outskirts and is considered to be one of the cities in China which has the best quality of life.
NUBS China offers European-level competitive salaries and benefits with reasonable teaching loads. In addition, an attractive international benefits package including accommodation allowance, travel allowance, support for international schooling (there are three international schools in Ningbo), and insurance (including international medical insurance) will be provided for international appointments. NUBS China also provides a competitive research support package for candidates showing good research output. Candidates are expected to have a PhD in a relevant area by the time they start to work. Excellent English communication skills are essential. Candidates are also expected to have demonstrated an ability to conduct high-quality research together with strong teaching abilities.
The post will initially be offered on a fixed term contract with the University of Nottingham, Ningbo, China for a period of up to 5 years, starting 1 September 2012 (our preferred starting date) or potentially on 1 February 2013 if mutually agreeable. This contract may be extended on an indefinite basis by mutual agreement, subject to revised terms and conditions.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute lectures and seminars in Accounting across all years of the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes; and to contribute to the supervision of undergraduate and masters dissertations.
Candidates must have a degree and preferably a postgraduate degree in a relevant subject as well as excellent communication and presentation skills in English. Experience of teaching/tutorial work in relevant subjects at degree level in an international English-speaking institution is also essential.
Salary will be within the range 259,070 RMB – 309,343 RMB per annum depending on skills and experience (salary progression beyond this is subject to performance). In addition, an attractive package including accommodation allowance, travel allowance and insurance will be provided for international appointments. This post is available from 1 September 2012 and will initially be offered on a fixed-term contract with the University of Nottingham, Ningbo, China for a period of three years.
