Student recruitment opportunity

The University of Nottingham Students’ Union and Nottingham Trent Students’ Union are recruiting

Student Community Organisers – 2 positions

The Role

The Nottingham Students’ Partnership is a joint venture between the University of Nottingham Students’ Union and Nottingham Trent Students’ Union, based around the shared experiences of our students across the City of Nottingham.

The role of Student Community Organiser is perfect for someone currently studying at NTU or UoN who likes to talk to and build relationships with their fellow students. You will be finding out what issues students are passionate about and supporting them to campaign. The role should allow you a degree of freedom, so you will need to be capable of taking the initiative and working independently and as part of a small team.

Some knowledge of community organising might be beneficial, but full training will be provided.  This bespoke training, carried out in collaboration with Nottingham Citizens, will cover the principles and operation of community organising, and will be supported by staff and resources at both UoNSU and NTSU.

No Community Organiser looks the same, and each person will approach this differently but for this role you’ll most likely:

  1. Have a passion for the improvement of Nottingham as a city that students live in.
  2. Be able to easily talk to and relate to students, residents and local stakeholders from a range of backgrounds.
  3. Be willing to learn about Community Organising.
  4. Be able to keep a track of your own work and be self-motivated.

This role will require working with both NTSU and UoNSU and students at both universities, so flexibility and the ability to adapt will be highly valuable. We encourage students from both Nottingham Trent University and University of Nottingham who would enjoy this opportunity working with a wide range of people across both universities and the wider city to apply.

If you have any questions about the role or would like an informal discussion, please contact Edward.Towers@su.ntu.ac.uk

How to apply

If you are a current student of the University of Nottingham or Nottingham Trent University and will be for the 24/25 academic year and wish to apply, please send your CV and supporting statement of no more than 1 A4 page demonstrating how you meet the criteria in the Person Specification section of the Job Description to Edward.Towers@Nottingham.ac.uk

For a full job description and person specification please visit the University of Nottingham Students’ Union website https://su.nottingham.ac.uk/about/work-for-us

Closing Date: Monday 8th July 2024 at midday

Interviews: Week Commencing Monday 22nd July 2024

Please note we may only be able to contact those candidates successful for interview. Successful for interview candidates will receive an e-mail by Tuesday 27th June giving details of the interview. If you have not received an e mail we thank you for your interest but please consider that you have not been successfully shortlisted on this occasion.

Hourly rate: £11.44 plus holiday pay calculated at 12.07%
