We are seeking to appoint a Professor to a permanent post within our award-winning School of Health Sciences with its vibrant community and its outstanding reputation.   

For an initial period of three years in rotation with colleagues you will be Director of Research and responsible for strategic leadership of research and knowledge exchange within the school and chairing the Research Strategy Board.

You will undertake a substantive programme of research activity consistent with Professorial standing alongside a commitment to be a compassionate role model and to mentor and support other colleagues. You will conduct programmatic research that will inform policy and practice; supervise and examine postgraduate research students and support early career researchers. You will also contribute excellent teaching in your areas of expertise.  

Your research should either fit with one of our research priority areas of: mental health, palliative, supportive and end of life care, maternal health and well-being, rehabilitation, children and young people’s healthcare, digital innovations for healthcare and education; or has the potential to develop a new research group.  

We are looking for an outstanding academic with cutting edge research expertise.  Proven skills in coaching and developing others will also be essential.  You will join a School that is inclusive, supportive, ambitious and developmental for staff at all stages of their career.  We are committed to ensuring that, within this culture, individual and collaborative research activity can flourish, can influence the wider discipline, and have an impact far beyond the School.  Through leadership and innovation you will be expected to raise the profile of the School of Heath Sciences both within the University and beyond, at national and international levels.

This is a permanent professorial/academic opportunity with a three-year term of office as director of research and knowledge exchange. Hours of work are full-time (36.25 hours per week); however, applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 29 hours per week).  Please specify in your application if you wish to work part-time and the number of preferred hours.  Job share arrangements may be considered.
