The Biodiscovery Institute (BDI) is a collaborative post-graduate research facility with academics from across six Schools at the University of Nottingham. The BDI comprises 3 buildings and contains a series of laboratories and office spaces supporting 850+ staff and students.
This crucial role within the institute is based within a dedicated core support team and provides day-to-day support in the operation of a busy research institution. duties include but not limited to preparing and sterilising laboratory reagents and media, washing and sterilizing of glassware, collection, and disposal of biological waste using an Autoclave, Safety checks on equipment, collection and delivery of chemicals and waste and dealing with deliveries of consumables, stock checking and restocking consumables.
The role will be to provide key technical support to the Senior Building technician and may involve workload planning, maintenance contract renewal and coordination and responsibility for specific technical duties.
We have a team-orientated approach, and candidates should have excellent interpersonal, organisational, written, and verbal communication skills, and good attention to detail. The role will involve manual handling.
- Candidates should have GCSEs at Grade C or equivalent, plus some experience in a relevant role or considerable work experience in a relevant technical/scientific role.

The post is offered on a permanent, full time (36.25 hours per week) contract. Job share arrangements may be considered.
