Salary:  £30,487 to £33,966 per annum (pro rata if applicable) depending on skills and experience (£33966 with relevant PhD).

We are seeking an excellent Research Associate/Fellow to be part of several funded research projects to work on the application of machine learning and AI in the area Precision Livestock informatics.

The applicant must have a PhD (or be close to completion) in computer science, machine learning, deep learning, or mathematics with application to dairy farming. In-depth expertise in the use of advanced statistical modelling, machine learning, deep learning for data, and cloud computing. Strong proficiency in programming/software development is required. 

The successful applicant will join a friendly, highly motivated and successful Ruminant Population Health research group with wide research connections throughout the School. The post will be primarily research focused (90%) with limited but some teaching and administrative duties.  

Collaboration with current research teams and projects will be essential. Further roles include active participation in the Strategic Research Area of Ruminant Population Health and mentoring of post graduate researchers.  

This role is available on a fixed term basis until 31/07/2025. Hours of work are full time (36.25 hours). Job share arrangements may be considered.
