The University of Nottingham is looking to appoint a Teaching Associate to undertake undergraduate teaching as part of the biochemistry degrees in the School of Life Sciences. You will contribute to teaching and assessment on modules across our portfolio including 1st, 2nd and 3rd year modules in protein biochemistry and molecular biology. You will contribute to practical class teaching and assessment in biochemistry in the early years of our degree, and you will be a supervisor of final year project students. As a personal tutor you will have the chance to give academic and pastoral advice to small groups of students. You will have the opportunity to be a module convenor and deliver leadership of a defined section of the degree programme. You would be expected make a full contribution to open day and offer holder activities and be part of any activities to improve the biochemistry student experience.
You will have experience teaching at Higher Education level with the ability to communicate with clarity on complex and fundamental ideas to those with limited knowledge and understanding as well as to peers, using a range of media. You will hold a PhD in biochemistry or closely related discipline.
This is a full time (36.25 hour), fixed term opportunity to 30th April 2026. Job share arrangements may be considered. Requests for secondment from internal candidates may be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role.
