INTERNAL VACANCY

This vacancy is open to employees of the University of Nottingham only.

We are seeking a motivated manager with excellent project management skills and a strong commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion to undertake this secondment in the Researcher Academy. A strategic thinker and able communicator, you will develop, deliver and evaluate initiatives and interventions to increase access and participation at postgraduate researcher (PGR) level and ensure that researchers from under-represented groups thrive and succeed at Nottingham.

The Researcher Academy is the network for researchers, and the staff who support them, at the University of Nottingham. We work to promote a healthy research culture, to cultivate researcher excellence, and develop creative partnerships that enable researchers to flourish.

The Researcher Academy is part of the broader RKE Excellence Strategy division in the Research & Innovation Directorate (R&I). The Directorate provides comprehensive support throughout the research and innovation lifecycle. From first ideas through to commercialisation and industry partnerships. It comprises around 180 colleagues and is investing in new roles in order to ensure it has the capability and capacity to deliver on Nottingham’s ambitions.

Don’t meet every single requirement? We encourage you to apply anyway as we know that a diverse, inclusive, and authentic workplace is not only a better place to work but also produces higher-quality solutions. If you are excited by the opportunities of this role, but your experience doesn’t align perfectly with every requirement, you should still apply; you may be just the right candidate.

This post is offered on an internal secondment until 31st July 2025. Hours of work are full-time (36.25 hours) ; however applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 30 hours per week). Please specify in your application if you wish to work part time and the number of preferred hours. Job share arrangements may be considered.

Requests for secondment from internal candidates will be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role.

Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic students and those from disadvantaged backgrounds are under-represented in funded postgraduate research and hence remain under-represented in academia. A step change is needed in the diversity of academia as a whole and this change must begin when potential future leaders start their careers.

Informal enquiries may be addressed to rachel.vankrimpen@nottingham.ac.uk. Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
