Salary:  £42,155 to £53,353 per annum (pro-rata if applicable) depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.

We are currently recruiting to our Research Contracts team within the University’s Research & Innovation department and are looking for experienced and highly-motivated applicants.  The team is part of the wider Research Operations hub, which provides financial management, contractual, governance and application support to the University’s research. The Research Contracts Manager role is based within a busy, diverse and friendly Contracts team, working with colleagues across Research & Innovation and the wider University to facilitate research and knowledge exchange activity.

The successful candidate will work proactively with academic staff, collaborating partners and research funders to draft and negotiate agreements which are fair and reasonable and protect the University’s interests.  As a Research Contracts Manager you will be responsible for line management, appraisal, support of other members of the team reporting to the post holder. You will also be responsible for a substantial, varied and sometimes complex workload and will need to work pragmatically and creatively to agree contractual terms with a range of partners.  Agreements may include multi-partner collaboration agreements, framework agreements, clinical trial agreements, services agreements, material transfer agreements and confidentiality agreements. You will have access to a suite of template agreements in order to expedite contract execution where appropriate.

As a Research Contracts Manager you will work with other members in the Team to support primarily one Faculty and will need to build productive relationships with stakeholders to understand the research context and agree appropriate contract terms.   You will need to work with other parts of Research Operations and Faculty staff to ensure a seamless support service to academic staff, funders and collaborators.  You will also provide advice on and interpretation of contract terms to colleagues where required.

You should be committed to working in and contributing to an environment of continuous improvement and will contribute towards the ongoing development and implementation of effective procedures and systems supporting research contracts and interfaces with other teams. 

This role is available on a permanent basis. Hours of work are full time (36.25 hours). Job share arrangements may be considered.
