Salary:  £32,348 to £43,414 per annum (pro-rata if applicable) depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.

An opportunity has arisen for an individual to join a team of electrical engineering technicians associated with the Power/Electronics & Machine Controls Group (PEMC), based at Nottingham's Jubilee Campus.

Working within the team the post holder will be involved in the organisation, planning and manufacture of bespoke precision parts to customer specifications.

 Duties will include.

  • To assist through close interaction with researchers, academics and the specialist mechanical team in the design, build, manufacture and testing of precision mechanical parts which make up integral components of bespoke low/ high speed motors.
  • Construction and modification of a wide range of test rigs and fixtures, including motor drive testing systems. This will entail specification, pricing and purchasing of appropriate components.
  • Construction of individually designed electrical motors for research development.
  • Offer technical advice to both academics and researchers in relation to the safe operation of the group’s electrical research rigs.
  • Acts as a recognised source of technical and/or experimental expertise in own area of technical skill/expertise through the effective utilisation and application of substantial skill and experience.
  • Advising on future physical resource requirements within own area - general/specific equipment, apparatus, space etc.

Candidates must have a minimum of HNC in relevant subject or equivalent qualifications OR substantial experience in a relevant role.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate a good understanding of Toolroom practices and a basic understanding of electrical theory is desirable.

This is a permanent, full-time post (36.25 hours per week). Job share arrangements may be considered.
