The University of Nottingham is inviting applications for a Data Analyst to join our exciting collaboration with six partners from East Africa, India and the UK to work on an Innovate UK funded project: “Smart Biogas 3: Digesting Data”.

As an enthusiastic postgraduate, this is a unique opportunity to analyse operational data from hundreds of small-scale biogas units around the world. Our vision is to enhance small to medium-large biogas deployment in poor communities in the global south through radically improved performance and reduced costs. This includes, optimising usage through data, reducing maintenance and other running costs, access to finance through metering, greater support to end-users through apps.

A key aspect of your role will be to visualise large data sets and to develop academic publications based on the results of your analysis.

You should hold a PhD (or about to obtain) in mathematics, computing or a relevant engineering discipline, have experience of writing academic publications and desirably have knowledge or experience of the energy sector.

As a self-motivated individual, you will have the ability to organise your own time effectively and have a flexible approach to prioritising tasks and work. 

This role is fixed term for 12 months. Hours of work are full-time (36.25 hours); however, applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 25 hours per week). Please specify in your application if you wish to work part time and the number of preferred hours. Arrangements for job share would be considered.

Requests for secondment from internal candidates may be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role.
