The Department of History at the University of Nottingham is looking to appoint a Teaching Associate in early medieval English history with particular reference to the age of Bede. You will have a PhD in history, with teaching experience at undergraduate level on medieval history.
We want to continue to tackle the underrepresentation of marginalised groups in history – whether in staffing, curriculum, research, the public face of history or presence in the classroom. You will be able to demonstrate an ability to make a positive difference to issues of underrepresentation, through your experience, work, ethos, identity, or in some other way.

As a Teaching Associate you will be expected to:
- Design and deliver modules in history, contributing lectures and seminars within the Department's overall teaching programme.
- Supervise and examine undergraduate students.
- Support tutorial groups, developing their knowledge and learning skills.
- Take a proactive role in the pastoral support of students, dealing with sensitive issues.
- Be responsible for administrative duties.
- Contribute to impact, public engagement, and interdisciplinarity.
- Contribute positively and proactively to the Department’s teaching culture, especially considering issues of underrepresentation in history.
This post will be offered on a fixed-term, full-time basis (36.25 hours per week), commencing 1st September 2023 and ending on 31st August 2024. Job share arrangements may be considered.
