The Key Laboratory of Carbonaceous Waste Conversion & Process Intensification Research of Zhejiang Province (hereafter referred to as “PKL”) and the Ningbo Municipal Engineering Research Centre on Organic Solid Wastes Utilization Technologies are seeking to recruit a Research Fellow in Advanced Materials and Energy Technology to carry out original research on energy and environmental materials development, and carbon reduction and mitigation technologies, particularly focusing on the processing of solid wastes.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • To design, win external funding for and execute research in the fields of green treatment of solid waste/development of novel energy/environmental materials.
  • To work closely with members of the research unit to achieve the set team target (e.g., funding, publications, patents).
  • To develop and coordinate research collaborations between UNNC faculties, collaborative universities, institutes and local research partners.
  • To support the organizing of workshop and international conference for academic exchange.
  • Undertake other tasks and responsibilities as may reasonably be required.

 About You:

  • You should have a doctorate degree in Chemical/Environmental Engineering or related discipline;
  • You should possess good research skills, competency in laboratory health and safety, experience in working in a multicultural environment, and excellent communication and presentation skills in English.
  • You should have an established track record of high quality research outputs.
  • You should possess good time management skills, attention to detail, strong problem solving skills, personal initiative in design and conduct of projects, and ability to work to tight deadlines, as well as good nature to be a team player who will help out others should the need arises.

About Us:

  • UNNC is the first Sino-foreign University to open its doors in China. Since its establishment in 2004, UNNC has been growing rapidly (ranked 82nd in China's Best Universities 2021 by Shanghai Ranking), with its Engineering discipline entering the top 0.5% of ESI in 2021. The PKL mainly focuses on efficient resource utilization of carbonaceous solid waste, pollutant control, reaction process intensification technology, green chemistry and advanced catalysis. At present, the PKL has formed a strong and dynamic research group with 45 permanent staff. The PKL has a total laboratory area of over 3,100 m2 and research instruments worth about 37 million RMB, covering various facilities from thermo-conversion of carbonaceous solid waste to material characterizations.
