Research Librarian (Fixed-term)
The University of Nottingham is looking to appoint a Research Librarian to join the Libraries’ Research Support Team on a fixed term, or secondment basis, to 31st July 2022. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a team providing a range of specialist Library services to support researchers and post graduate research students across the research lifecycle.
The role holder will provide advice and guidance on open access, depositing in our own institutional repository, compliance with funder OA policies and assist with answering data management queries. In addition, the role will involve developing and delivering information skills training and contributing to the research enquiry service, which covers a wide range of queries from systematic reviews through to bibliometrics.
You will have excellent communication skills and the confidence and ability to engage with researchers at all levels to understand and support their individual research needs. Support and engagement will include responding to complex queries, providing one-to-one advice, drafting communications for the web and producing guidance documentation. The successful candidate will be a strong team player, have a flexible approach, good attention to detail and have experience of delivering support services. Knowledge of developments in scholarly communications and open access publishing is essential, as is a good understanding of issues relating to research data management.
As part of the Libraries’ Research Support Team, you will work closely with colleagues across the different teams within the Library and in partnership with Professional Services departments such as Research and Innovation.
This is a full-time (36.25 hours per week) opportunity offered on fixed-term basis until 31st July 2022. Job-share arrangements may be considered.
Requests for secondment from internal candidates will be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role.
Informal enquiries may be addressed to Alison Ashmore, email Alison.Ashmore@nottingham.ac.uk. Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
