The School of Health Sciences (SHS) at the University of Nottingham, one of the four Schools in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, provides a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the fields of nursing, midwifery, physiotherapy, sport rehabilitation and for the allied health professions.

The School’s mission is ‘to provide excellent healthcare education and undertake outstanding research that inspires our students and staff to transform the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities and make an enlightened and valued contribution to society’.

The School is seeking to appoint a dynamic and enthusiastic Assistant Professor in Midwifery to contribute to teaching, curriculum planning and related activities on undergraduate and (where appropriate) postgraduate midwifery programmes. 

The candidate must have current midwifery registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) in the UK and experience in midwifery education and/or midwifery clinical practice. The post will be based in Nottingham but you will be expected to travel to clinical placement areas as appropriate.

The position will be offered on a fixed-term contract available immediately until 31 July 2026 to cover maternity leave. Hours of work are full-time (36.25 hours per week); however applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 29 hours per week). Please specify in your application if you wish to work part time and the number of preferred hours. Job share arrangements may also be considered.
