Senior Research Fellow (fixed term)

Applications are invited for a Senior Research Fellow position in Mental Health and Clinical Neurosciences, School of Medicine at the University of Nottingham. The role holder will pursue research in novel brain connectivity mapping approaches, based on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). They will be a member of the computational neuroimaging group (https://conilab.nottingham.ac.uk), led by Professor Stam Sotiropoulos. The team have an established track record in developing innovative technologies for mapping the brain and its connections at a systems level, in health and disease, and are largely supported by the European Research Council and UKRI. The post holder will further join the existing inter-disciplinary and vibrant environment team of the internationally recognised Sir Peter Mansfield Imaging Centre (www.nottingham.ac.uk/magres), birthplace of MRI and soon to be home of the ultra-high field (11.7T) UK national facility.

You will be expected to take the lead on, developing and conduct individual and/or collaborative research objectives of projects on innovative brain mapping technologies and computational frameworks for imaging analytics. You will also be expected to contribute and lead on funding proposals either for basic/translational science or for establishing knowledge exchange pathways.

You will have a PhD or equivalent in brain image analysis with a technical background in imaging, engineering, neuroscience, physics (or relevant computational domain). You will have extensive post-doctoral research experience and publication track record in this area, ideally with national and international collaborations and a growing reputation and recognition in the field. Prior experience of supervising junior colleagues or PhD students and attracting external funding is highly desirable, but not essential.

The post if offered on a full-time (36.25 hours per week), fixed term contract for 12 months, with a starting date as early as January 2025. The successful candidate must be in post by 1 August 2025.
