Academic and Professional Tutor (Fixed term, Part time)
An exciting opportunity exists to be seconded to work as Academic and Professional Tutor with the Educational Psychology (EP) Team at the University of Nottingham, and to be involved in the delivery of the Doctorate in Applied Educational Psychology (DAEP).
Academic and Professional Tutors (APT) contribute to all aspects of the DAEP including general course management and development; module planning and delivery; tutorials and supervision of practice placements and research projects; and assessment of trainee performance.
The Nottingham course is located in the School of Psychology with a high reputation for the quality of its teaching and research and has a long established reputation for training educational psychologists. Successful candidates will be encouraged to carry out and publish research in professionally relevant areas and make a contribution to the full range of the Team’s work within the School of Psychology. Induction and mentoring will be provided for each aspect of the APT role.
Candidates must be fully qualified and experienced educational psychologists with a proven track record of effective professional practice, a good knowledge of current issues in training and a demonstrable ability to carry out senior management responsibilities. Applicants must also be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council as Practitioner Educational Psychologists. In addition, it would be a desirable for applicants to possess either a PhD or Professional Doctorate in Educational Psychology.
Applicants will need to discuss with their employer the feasibility of being seconded to the University. The successful candidates will be expected to work in Local Authority Educational Psychology Services for the remaining portion of their work and to carry out a range of generic and/or specialist duties as an Educational Psychologist.
The University will reimburse Local Authorities for the appropriate proportion of the secondee’s salary within the Soulbury scale above and any associated on-costs. It is expected that at the time of interview, applicants will be able to provide evidence that their Local Authority is willing to second them to the University.
The posts will be offered on a part-time (14.5 hours, 2 days per week or 0.4 full-time equivalent) secondment contract until 31st August 2026, with the possibility of extension beyond this date subject to funding. Details will be discussed at interview.
