We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Library Adviser to join the Collections team within the Content and Discovery section. Part of the Libraries department at the University of Nottingham, you will be based at King’s Meadow Campus on Lenton Lane. Across the university we have eight different Libraries and employ over 200 people.

Having colleagues from a wide range of groups and backgrounds is key to a good supportive workplace and even better services. We are particularly keen to receive applications from groups who are currently underrepresented in Libraries in the UK, such as people from Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic backgrounds.

The Collections team manage and develop library collections in line with teaching and research needs across seven libraries and an off-site store. We facilitate access to a wide range of information resources, co-ordinate decisions around the selection and movement of stock between libraries and stores and help academics use our reading list system. You will build strong working relationships with our two other Senior Library Advisers to deliver a broad range of consistently high-quality, user-focused services. Senior Library Advisers are the main point of contact for academic staff in managing and developing our collections, dealing with email enquiries about availability of resources for teaching and research and assistance with reading list maintenance.? The team also reviews physical stock in libraries in order to optimise use of space and access to resources, and although based at Kings Meadow Campus you will also visit libraries for this when required.??

You will have experience of library collections work?or similar?(e.g.?Acquisitions, Metadata, Subject liaison, etc), good knowledge of core IT systems and the desire to deliver a professional service to staff and students. You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work both as part of a team and well under pressure. Knowledge of online reading list creation and use would be an advantage, as would experience of working in an HE environment.?

This is a permanent, part-time post of 18 hours per week, worked across 3 days (exact hours by agreement).

Perhaps you feel you don’t meet every single requirement? Studies have shown that some groups are less likely to apply for jobs unless they match everything, not just the essential criteria. If you’re excited about this role but your experience doesn’t align perfectly, we encourage you to apply. You may be just the right candidate.

Informal enquiries may be addressed to Jo Wood (jo.wood1@nottingham.ac.uk) Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
