Construction Compliance Officer

The Estates and Facilities Department provides strategic and operational services support to the University infrastructure, buildings, and landholdings. We are a large and diverse department employing approximately 1300 people and provide a wide range of services across our UK sites.

We are looking for an experienced Construction Compliance Officer to join the Compliance Team within the Estates & -Facilities Department. Reporting to the Compliance Manager (Safe Systems of Work & CDM), the role holder will support the delivery of arrangements managing contractor safety performance across our premises during construction activities

Candidates will be required to lead on the permit to work function acting as a permit authoriser, develop contractor site rules and Induction packages, review Risk Assessments and Method statements and carry out onsite inspections to ensure adherence to University standards. You will also be required to undertake assurance exercises on existing contractor and CDM control measures and will collate and report on data, identifying trends and making recommendations for improvements as required.

Candidates should hold the NEBOSH Construction Safety General Certificate qualification or similar and/ or be qualified to NVQ Level 4/5/6 or hold a BTEC diploma in Building Construction or similar. You should also have demonstrable knowledge and experience of the control of H&S risks in construction work on either the client or contractor side.

This role is available on a permanent basis. Hours of work are full time (36.25 hours per week) Job share arrangements may be considered.
