An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our small, hard-working team at The University of Nottingham’s Centre for Dairy Science Innovation where we operate a leading edge dairy facility with up to 350 cows as well as youngstock reared on the farm. The dairy is a centre of excellence in the provision of education and research facilities for both the School of Biosciences and the School of Veterinary and Medical Science at the University and you will be working alongside our students and academics as well as the farm staff.

This role will require the successful candidate to independently manage their own workload and will involve both conventional animal husbandry and stockmanship duties undertaking all associated operations to ensure the highest standards are met at all times. 

Candidates should be qualified to a minimum of HND/BTEC in Agriculture, or have equivalent qualifications plus have work experience in a relevant role or have significant relevant experience in a similar role. Due to the frequency with which the role holder will drive university vehicles a full current driving licence is essential for this role.

In return we offer excellent working conditions, good remuneration and pension package together with regular time off.  The position comes with a three bedroomed, centrally heated semi-detached house close to the dairy, the village of Sutton Bonington and local schools.

This post will work a minimum 36.25 hours per week plus regular overtime paid at x 1.5 rate for any hours worked over 36.25 per week and at x 2 rate for bank holidays and university closure days. Hours worked by rota averaging 5 days out of 7 including early mornings, some evenings and regular weekends. The current rota is 10 days on 4 days off, with the four days off being alternate Friday to Monday.
