Mechanical Engineer

The Estates and Facilities Department provides strategic and operational services support to the University infrastructure, buildings, and landholdings. We are a large and diverse department employing approximately 1250 people and provide a wide range of services across our UK sites.
Applications are invited for an individual to join a busy and vibrant team of engineers, engaged in the provision and management of a wide range of Mechanical Building Engineering Services, planned and reactive maintenance and energy management.
Working within the Estates office you will assist in the management and maintenance of key HVAC and associated mechanical building engineering assets and systems ensuring that they are maintained and available as required by all University staff and students. The role involves making decisions on the design, provision, and maintenance of these services to ensure the University can meet its core function of teaching and research. You will also assist with the development and management of the mechanical services asset register and will provide technical input to building and campus asset management plans.
Applicants will have a proven track record and detailed experience in Building Engineering Services maintenance within a large organisation. You will hold an HND/C qualification in Building Engineering Services and ideally be a Chartered Engineer and a member of CIBSE or equivalent. Candidates will be self-motivated, be an excellent organiser and have proven leadership qualities combined with excellent communication skills. Due to the frequency with which candidates will be required to drive between university sites a full current driving license is essential for this post.

This role is available on a permanent basis. Hours of work are full time (36.25 hours per week) Job share arrangements may be considered.
