Assistant Professor in Antimicrobial Resistance and One Health
The role
The School of Veterinary Medicine and Sciences is looking to recruit an Assistant Professor to further enhance our world class research in the area of Antimicrobial Resistance and One Health. You will join and contribute to this strategic research area with a focus on applying cutting edge technologies to the better understanding and combatting of antimicrobial resistance in a One Health context.
You will have a demonstrable track record in the control of AMR pathogens in humans, animals or the environment. You will be expected to collaborate with one or more of the SVMS’s research strengths in AMR modelling, novel therapeutics, diagnostics and digital data/informatics. The role holder will develop a career-appropriate track record in both research and teaching. You will contribute to the undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the School of Veterinary Medicine and Science and you will act as a role model that promotes a positive research culture. Training to PGCHE level will be provided, as required, to support the role holder in teaching delivery.
As an Assistant Professor you will have a growing reputation in your field and demonstrable potential to make a significant impact on research. You will develop a research programme in your field of expertise with a focus on the study of AMR in a One Health context, addressing either fundamental mechanisms or development of novel interventions and controls.
You will undertake research, individually and collaboratively, and publish high-quality, impactful papers regularly. You will seek and secure funding through the development of your own research proposals and be active in research and knowledge exchange projects both internally and externally. You will take an active role in supervising doctoral researchers and will take responsibility for leading new research and other initiatives linked to your area of expertise.
You will have the ability to deliver a high standard of teaching through a variety of methods to support the School's teaching requirements, with the potential to contribute toward delivery at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

The post is offered on a full time (36.25 hours per week), permanent contract.
