Research Associate/Fellow (Fixed term)
Applications are invited from highly motivated and enthusiastic candidate to the above role to investigate and perform research to disseminate findings on a ERC advance grant project funded by UKRI frontier science entitled "Divide and Thrive: Unravelling the unconventional dynamics and regulation of rapid cell division during Plasmodium male gamete formation” with the supervision of Professor Rita Tewari.
The research will primarily investigate protein complexes involved in parasite cell division during transmission stages using conditional gene modulation through CRISPR-Cas9, AID and Dicer, and protein-protein interactions using mass-spectrometry proteomics and yeast two- and three-hybrid assays. The candidate will work also work very closely with Dr Stephen Gray for yeast two and three hybrid work. This is to understand cyclin and CDK interaction and their role in parasite atypical cell cycle and cell division. This is to further investigate parasite development in both the host and mosquito vector
Candidates must hold a PhD (awarded or pending).
This fixed-term, full-time (36.25 hour) post is available from 4th November 2024 until 3rd November 2026, with the potential for a further 1 year extension subject to funding. Job share arrangements may be considered.
