Research Assistant (Part time, fixed term)
We are inviting applications for the role of Research Assistant to join a research team based in the School of Medicine. You will be part of a project team examining risks of cardiovascular events in women taking menopausal hormone therapy, funded by the NIHR School for Primary Care Research. This is an exciting opportunity to work with large clinical research databases and address health issues that are of increasing importance and concern to patients.
You will be responsible for preparing the dataset and carrying out statistical analysis to determine which uses of the therapy in terms of types, durations, doses are associated with increased or decreased risks. As well as preparing a paper for publication in a peer-reviewed medical journal, you will lead other dissemination activities, such as publicising the findings to professional groups, and relevant groups in the general population.
We are seeking someone who has in depth understanding of research methodology and epidemiological methods and is able to carry out statistical analyses using Stata or R, interpret findings and present results. You should have experience of dealing with large datasets, and be able to communicate clearly to a variety of audiences.
You will join the Centre for Academic Primary Care’s Primary Care Epidemiology group within the Lifespan and Population Health academic unit. We are a team using large clinical datasets for research on a variety of health issues, including mental health, and safety of prescribed medications. We have strong links to Public and Patient Involvement groups, ensuring that the work we do is relevant and important to the people it affects. The project team involves colleagues across the University of Nottingham, including clinicians, pharmacists and public contributors.
At the University of Nottingham, we are committed to providing generous employment packages whilst supporting the well-being of our staff to help them reach their full potential. As a University employee, you will have an excellent choice of benefits and rewards, including access to fitness and health facilities, staff discounts and travel schemes, along with 30 days' holiday allowance.
This is a fixed term opportunity until 31st August 2025. Hours of work are part-time (14.5 - 25.4 hours per week). Please state your preferred working hours in your application.
Informal enquiries may be addressed to Yana Vinogradova, email yana.vinogradova@nottingham.ac.uk. Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted. Requests for secondment from internal candidates may be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role.
