RESEARCH CONTRACTS OFFICER (FIXED-TERM - MATERNITY COVER)
We are currently recruiting to our Research Contracts team within the University’s Research & Innovation department and are looking for experienced and highly-motivated applicants. The team is part of the wider Research Operations, which provides financial management, contractual, governance and application support to the University’s research. The Contracts Officer role is based within a busy, diverse and friendly Contracts team, working with colleagues across Research & Innovation and the wider University to facilitate research and knowledge exchange activity.
The successful candidate will work proactively with academic staff, collaborating partners and research funders to draft and negotiate agreements which are fair and reasonable and protect the University’s interests. As a Contracts Officer, you will be responsible for a substantial, varied and sometimes complex workload and will need to work pragmatically and creatively to agree contractual terms with a range of partners. Agreements may include multi-partner collaboration agreements, data sharing agreements, clinical trial agreements, services agreements, material transfer agreements and confidentiality agreements. You will have access to a suite of template agreements in order to expedite contract execution where appropriate.
This is a maternity cover role Fixed Term for 12 months, full time (36.25 hours) and as a Contracts Officer you will work with other Contracts Officers to support primarily the Faculty of Medicine and Health Science and will need to build productive relationships with stakeholders to understand the research context and agree appropriate contract terms. You will need to work with other parts of Research Operations and Faculty staff to ensure a seamless support service to academic staff, funders and collaborators. You will also provide advice on and interpretation of contract terms to colleagues where required. Experience in supporting contracts in the areas of Medicine and Health Sciences would be considered an asset.
You should be committed to working in and contributing to an environment of continuous improvement and will contribute towards the ongoing development and implementation of effective procedures and systems supporting research contracts and interfaces with other teams.
