The Re-Make project’s primary objective is to implement, monitor, and characterize a bespoke sustainable high-performance repair and Additive Manufacturing (AM) technology based on solid state deposition. The project aims to achieve exceptional functional products through a multi-faceted approach that combines multi-scale computational modelling with advanced experimental, analytical techniques, and data-driven approaches. The project also seeks to bridge the gaps restricting the application of Cold Spray for repair and AM by implementing a quantitative methodology with transversal and applicative-oriented strategies.

We are recruiting for a Doctoral Candidate at the University of Nottingham, who will also become a full-time employee to work on FEEDSTOCK POWDER MODIFICATION AND ITS EFFECT ON DEPOSITION MECHANISM.

Successful candidates will receive a highly competitive salary in accordance with MSCA regulations for Doctoral Candidates. MSCA benefits include a living allowance, mobility allowance, family allowance and research and training activities.

The objectives here are to understand the gas atomized microstructure of different metallic powders, to homogenize the microstructure of gas atomized powder through customized complex, multistage heat treatments and to optimize the mechanical properties of cold spray deposits obtained from the modified powders. You will primarily conduct Cold Spray experiments using the high pressure and low pressure cold spray facility at Nottingham. You will be seconded at Rolls-Royce Plc, Debry and TWI, Cambridge for two short secondments.
