An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious researcher to join our team working on an industrial-funded project focused on the development of Takenaka’s zero carbon building design strategy.

The Takenaka Corporation is a leading general contractor in Japan that offers various services, including architectural design, construction, renewal, engineering, technology, and research and development. Takenaka is committed to excellence and sustainability in the construction industry.

Takenaka is working in collaboration with the University of Nottingham to envisage and shape the construction industry's future, towards achieving its zero-carbon vision. We are looking for a research assistant/fellow with experience in sustainable building design, building performance assessment, building energy efficiency and carbon management in buildings to join our team.

Candidates must hold a degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant science/engineering discipline, such as sustainable energy technologies, buildings energy efficiency and carbon neutrality in the built environment. An MSc or equivalent qualification in a relevant architecture/engineering/built environment discipline, such as sustainable building design, building comfort/energy performance assessment, building energy efficiency and carbon management in buildings is desirable but not essential. A PhD in a relevant field is desirable but not essential.

The successful candidate will be able to work independently and help manage the project and the stakeholder relationship, as well as possess excellent standards of written and spoken English, skills in writing reports and presentations, and enthusiasm, motivation, and drive to embed new knowledge and to take ownership of the work. Relevant industry experience (including work placements) is desirable but not essential.

Please note this is a part-time position and therefore applicants must already have the right to work in the UK (we are not able to sponsor a work visa for this role).
