The School of Humanities, School Management and Research Office (SMRO) support a range of services and provide administrative support for the effective management of the school’s buildings and facilities, health and safety, HR and finances, marketing and events, and research activities. We are seeking a proactive and self-motivated team player to join our friendly and supportive team who are committed to the smooth and efficient running on the school.

Your role will be varied and involves communicating with a wide range of people across the school and university, as well as external visitors against a back-drop of constantly changing demands and priorities. Your roll will be mainly focused on administration support for HR and finance, but you will also support other team members within the School Operations team, and work collaboratively with other SMRO teams, dealing with a wide range of customer enquiries and supporting senior managers.

HR and Finance responsibilities include providing support to hiring managers for recruitment and interviews, inducting new members of staff, keeping records up to date, advising on casual engagement options and setting these up, raising purchase orders, processing claims, budget monitoring, month end and year-end financial reconciliation. Supporting the wider School Operations team, you will help with restocking photocopiers and resolving faults, reporting building maintenance issues, and support with office moves. You should have experience of working in a relevant/related administrative environment, and high level of IT skills, including MS Word, Excel and O365.

 This role is offered on full-time (36.25 hours per week) on a fixed term contract ending 31 July 2027. We offer hybrid working with the option to work from home two days a week and flexibility in working hours alongside our operational requirements.
