You will offer pastoral support to students as a Personal Tutor and be keen on championing and promoting Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion initiatives. You may be assigned administrative duties to support the teaching work of the Department.

We believe in an inclusive working environment for all. We are welcoming, supportive, and caring, and pride ourselves on our positive community. Diversity is vital to our success and fundamental to our values. We are, therefore, particularly keen to receive applications from people who are currently underrepresented in music technology and/or composition, such as those of underrepresented genders (e.g., women, non-binary, trans) and people from Black, Asian or minority ethnic backgrounds.

Shortlisting is anonymous: we cannot see any personal data or the ‘Additional Information’ section in your application until shortlisting is completed. Shortlisting is by criteria-based questions based on the person specification, rather than CV or letter.

As a Teaching Associate you will be expected to:

  • Deliver innovative teaching.
  • Contribute positively and proactively to the Department’s teaching culture.
  • Supervise and examine Undergraduate and Postgraduate students in music.
  • Take a proactive role in the pastoral support of students, dealing with sensitive issues.
  • Be responsible for administrative duties.

This is a fixed-term, 0.4fte (14.5 hours per week) role commencing 1st September 2024, or as soon thereafter, until 31st January 2025.

Requests for secondment from internal candidates may be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role.

Informal enquiries may be addressed to Professor Lonán Ó Briain, email: lonan.obriain@nottingham.ac.uk; please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
