Position Title : Assistant/Associate Professor;

School :  School of Politics, History and International Relations

Faculty : Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences


We are seeking suitably qualified candidates to apply for the Assistant/Associate Professor position in School Of Politics, History & International Relations at the University of Nottingham Malaysia.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the School’s generalist, responsible for convening a range of modules related to: contemporary world history, introductory courses to political science and international relations as well as modules on research methods applied to the study of political science/international relations
  • Undertake a variety of administrative roles, including Undergraduate Programme Director and Library Officer
  • Display due regard for student well-being, principally by providing counselling, advice, referrals and references as needed
  • Supervising UG, PGT and PGR dissertations (where applicable)
  • Serve as the School’s Exams Officer and Admissions Officer
  • Develop a successful research agenda


Job Requirements:

  • PhD from an accredited and regarded university
  • Knowledge of academic disciplines of International Relations and Political Science (specialized in research methods) and some degree of general knowledge and experience when it comes to convening History modules; evidence of research abilities leading to quality publications and knowledge transfer
  • Recognised teaching experience at least at the graduate student/teaching assistant level
  • Collegial nature, good citizenship, capacity for demanding work role in a major international satellite campus in a developing country context, concern for student well-being; engaging in community service
  • Command of social media for student recruitment purposes and dissemination of research outputs is highly desirable


Desirable Requirements:

  • Record of university employment; preference for a candidate with the minimum of an associate fellowship on a recognized Postgraduate Certificate of Higher Education scheme
  • Research activities that support external/policy/civil society engagement
  • Familiarity with online teaching tools
