The School of Sociology and Social Policy is a vibrant, diverse, and exciting centre for social science teaching and research. We are a multidisciplinary School covering criminology, sociology, public policy, social policy, and social work. We are looking for an enthusiastic scholar to join our growing criminology team. The successful applicant will be expected to make a significant contribution to research and teaching in the School. This includes taking responsibility for the quality of the education we provide, identifying new opportunities and sources of funding for research, as well as contributing to high-quality submissions to future assessments of research excellence. They will also play an active role in School operations, for example by taking on a significant academic administrative role in relation to research and/or teaching. Teaching on our very popular undergraduate programmes will be an immediate priority.

We are happy to accept applications from any area of criminology, but we would particularly welcome candidates whose work engages with intersectional approaches to the study of crime, harm and social control.

Applicants should have a commitment to research, and/or a strong background in delivering educational programmes at postgraduate and undergraduate level, along with experience of academic administration.

This role is available on a permanent basis. Hours of work are full-time (36.25 hours); however, applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 29 hours per week). Please specify in your application if you wish to work part time and the number of preferred hours.

It is available from the 1st of August 2023. People from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds are encouraged to apply as the School is determined to provide an inclusive environment for staff and students.
