Salary:  £22,149 to £24,948 per annum (pro-rata if applicable) depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, proactive person to join our team delivering timely and high-quality technical support within the School of Pharmacy. 

The post is based within the Gene Regulation & RNA Biology Laboratory, Psychology Building, the Boot Science Building, both based on University Park.

What you will do: 

  • You will be part of a team to providing key technical services for staff and students with our research activities,  
  • You will have responsibilities within the Gene Regulation & RNA Biology Laboratory as part of the Biomolecular Science and Medicinal Chemistry and Molecular Therapeutics and Formulation Divisions.  
  • Your duties will include: 
  1. Stock control and ordering 
  2. Upkeep of ChemInventory 
  3. Media preparation / glassware cleaning 
  4. Equipment maintenance, lab organisation and waste disposal including low level radiation. 
  5. Health and Safety monitoring within the laboratory environment including:
    • Laboratory inductions 
    • Monthly monitoring of the labs and equipment 
    • Writing risk assessments and standard operating procedures 
    • Inspection of centrifuges and pressure regulation equipment 
  6. Instrument training (centrifuges, portable autoclaves) 
  7. Cell culture training and aseptic techniques 
  8.  Liquid Nitrogen handling and cell storage control  
  9. Gas cylinder handling

This role will be working within level 2 biological containment (CL2) laboratories.
