Salary:  £42,155 to £53,353 per annum (pro-rata if applicable) depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within The School of Chemistry for a Senior Technical Manager to lead a large technical team to enable the successful delivery of research and teaching across multiple laboratory buildings.
 
You will be required to work with academic, technical and administrative colleagues to strategically manage, lead and develop a comprehensive technical operation within the School. This will include responsibility for managing critical and urgent issues, developing technical management procedures and shaping the structure of the area of activity through assessing and deploying technical capabilities to deliver innovative technical solutions.
You will have operational and management responsibility for technical staff and building infrastructure for Chemistry operations on both University Park and Jubilee campuses.
 
You will be required to provide direction, leadership, support and guidance to technical colleagues to include; annual development conversations (ADC) reviews/goal setting, management team meetings and staff welfare.
 
You will possess excellent organisational and communication skills and have experience of delivering effective safety management approaches and methods within a technical workplace to ensure compliance with the Health & Safety at Work Act.
 
To be successful in this role you will be required to communicate effectively to all stakeholders verbally and using digital technology.
 
Applicants should hold a First degree or equivalent plus experience in a relevant subject area.

This position is offered on a permanent basis. Hours are full time (36.25 hours per week). Job share arrangements may be considered.
