Applications are invited to the above role to provide laboratory and technical support within DeepSeq, the University of Nottingham’s Next Generation Sequencing Facility. This role would specifically include expertise and support for single cell and optical mapping platforms.
DeepSeq is an established and highly respected world class facility with an existing dedicated and highly skilled team, it provides Illumina, Nanopore, Sanger, Optical mapping and Single Cell sequencing services to the University of Nottingham and to external clients. In addition, DeepSeq is developing methods in long read sequencing, as well as establishing spatial transcriptomics and other new methods for the wider community. DeepSeq is well equipped with a wide range of equipment including liquid handling robotics and dedicated equipment for sample or library quality checks and size selection. Due to demand, DeepSeq is entering into an exciting phase and is currently increasing its investment in new technology and staff. The successful candidate will have responsibility for providing expert technical, experimental and specialist support for single cell and optical mapping projects, as well as increasing awareness of DeepSeq’s single cell and optical mapping capabilities, both within and external to the University.
Candidates must have experience in tissue and cell culture as well as cell dissociation techniques. Previous practical experience in managing single cell projects and equipment would be advantageous.
Candidates must hold a HNC in relevant subject or equivalent qualification plus considerable work experience in a relevant role, or substantial work experience in this field.
This position is offered on a fixed term contract for 2 years. Hours are full time (36.25 hours per week). Job share arrangements may be considered.
