An excellent opportunity has arisen within the Research Support team for a Research Library Advisor to join us on a fixed term basis and gain experience of supporting the important and evolving area of open research.

Our team sits within the Libraries department and delivers services covering all aspects of scholarly communications, including open access (OA) publishing and research data management. The team plays an important role in delivering training and advocacy to researchers and providing practical advice throughout the publication life cycle.

Working as part of a small team, you will support University authors in publishing their work via the gold route to OA. Your main responsibilities will include assessing applications for OA funding, identifying articles eligible for cost-free OA publishing and answering email enquiries. You will also need to periodically collate data on publishing activity at UoN to help with decision-making. 

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate an understanding of scholarly communications processes, publishing and OA policies. You will be capable of absorbing and then applying complex policy requirements from research funders, and of communicating these requirements with confidence. You will also be able to demonstrate a forward-thinking and collaborative approach.

This is a full-time (36.25 hours per week), fixed term post until 31st March 2024. Job share arrangements may be considered. 

Requests for secondment from internal candidates will be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role.

The role will be based at George Green Library, University Park Campus. We currently have a hybrid working arrangement where you will be expected to spend a minimum of two days in the office. Working arrangements can be discussed during the interview process.
