Salary:  £42,155 to £53,353 per annum (pro-rata if applicable) depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.

We are pleased to share details of a permanent opportunity for an experienced Cyber Security Analyst to join our dedicated IT Security team based in Digital & Technology Services.

The Cyber Security Analyst will be responsible for monitoring all computer systems connected to the university network to identify known vulnerabilities, security breaches, potential weaknesses, unusual activity and unauthorised or illegal activity. 

You will assume responsibility for providing support for the university’s centrally managed anti-virus, SIEM, and EDR solutions, assisting with the installation and testing of software and security updates, tracking, analysis, optimisation, and usage reporting. You will also assist in the production of information security best practice and work closely with the service management team to ensure consistent reporting and feedback of security related incidents and problems. You will have a good understanding of Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware software, SIEM, and/or EDR solutions and knowledge of Windows/Linux administration, patch management, installation and support.

Your background will include a proven track record of contributing to large scale security focused projects and of administering a range of desktop and server operating systems. You will also have experience in identification of cybersecurity controls, their implementation and operation, including enterprise-wide Anti-virus, security patch distribution and directory administration (Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, or similar)

As the successful candidate, you will have a degree/professional qualification or equivalent relevant experience, ideally with an industry recognised IT Security certification (desirable).  

This role is available on a permanent basis. Hours of work are full-time (36.25 hours) ; however applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 29 hours per week).
