About the role

Our Professional Development Unit supports the University's work beyond traditional entry routes — bringing apprenticeships to life for hundreds of learners each year. As Senior Operations Manager, you'll take ownership of one of the most critical parts of that journey: making sure every apprentice progresses smoothly from enrolment through to End-Point Assessment and certification.

Day to day, you'll coordinate teaching observations and compliance reporting, support the End-Point Assessment process for both integrated and non-integrated degree apprenticeships, and represent the PDU in Ofsted preparations and inspections. You'll also oversee programme delivery and maintenance, working closely with programme teams to keep learning plans, inductions and welcome briefings running to a high standard.

About the team

You'll manage a team dedicated to learner experience, including skills tutors and a learner experience administrator — carrying out regular one-to-ones, managing caseload allocation, and making sure your team has what they need to support learners well. You'll work alongside other Operations Managers and our employer engagement colleagues, helping keep the way we work consistent across the whole PDU.

About you

• Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across the University and with external partners.
• Significant, recent experience supporting apprenticeship development and delivery in a Higher Education setting.
• Experience applying complex funding and/or provider management rules and guidelines.
• A track record of leading strategic projects and engaging effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
• Strong IT skills across MS Word, Excel, SharePoint and Teams, with the ability to bring different systems together.
