            <p id="isPasted"><strong>About the role</strong> &ndash; the Senior Lawyer (Commercial) will be the lead legal advisor and in-house point of contact for commercial law related advice, contracts and support.&nbsp;</p><p>Working under the strategic direction of the Director and Deputy Director of Legal Services, this role includes a high degree of autonomy in handling complex commercial matters, supervising and managing the Commercial Lawyers in the team and working collaboratively across the adjacent Senior Lawyers in the Regulatory and Contentious and Employment areas.&nbsp;</p><p><strong>About the team-&nbsp;</strong>as part of the recently restructured, friendly and inclusive Legal Services team, you will contribute to new initiatives, support our ESG activities (including working with the University&rsquo;s School of Law) and be part of the wider University community. &nbsp;Legal Services is an integral part of the University&rsquo;s professional services.</p><p><strong>About you-&nbsp;</strong>we&rsquo;re looking for a commercial, pragmatic and technically capable lawyer, with great interpersonal skills and the ability to exercise sound commercial judgement in a complex environment. You will have strong experience in contracts and commercial matters, especially IT contracts. This diverse role will be involved in case work, supporting reviews of existing systems and implementing new processes and improvement initiatives, including our use of technology and AI.&nbsp;</p><p><strong>About the team &ndash;&nbsp;</strong>as part of the University&rsquo;s friendly and inclusive Legal Services, you will be part of the Legal Operations team, enabling the lawyers to work as efficiently as possible and being an active part of the University community. &nbsp;Legal Services is an integral part of the University&rsquo;s professional services and is relied on by colleagues for clear and practical legal support.&nbsp;</p><p><strong>About you &ndash;&nbsp;</strong>we&rsquo;re looking for Law graduates or graduates who have taken a qualifying post-graduate law conversion course, in addition to relevant experience. You should have experience of a broad range of office duties, including proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office and a confident computer user. You should have the ability to work effectively, professionally and efficiently in a busy office environment, preferably with prior relevant experience in a legal support role.
