            <p><strong><span style="font-size: 18px;">INTERNAL VACANCY</span></strong></p><p>This vacancy is open to employees of the University of Nottingham only.&nbsp;</p><p id="isPasted">An exciting opportunity to join an ambitious and forward-thinking team. The Bio-Support Unit (BSU) is a multi-site, multi-disciplinary research facility with its own technical, engineering, scientific, and administration staff. We are seeking an enthusiastic person (maternity cover) to contribute to the effective operation of the services we provide to our research community. The successful candidate will provide specialised support to the Director of BSU and work closely with staff, academics, students and external colleagues involved in biomedical research, 3Rs (replace, reduce, refine animals in research) and animal welfare.</p><p>This rewarding position requires a highly motivated individual with an attention to detail. Candidates must be able to work on their own initiative; supervising staff and performing some day- to-day administrative tasks, whilst effectively managing their own workload. Excellent IT skills, communication skills and enthusiasm are required, as well as the ability to work flexibly as part of a team. &nbsp;The candidate will actively promote a culture of care, prioritise animal welfare and will disseminate and champion the 3Rs, including acting as Named Information Officer (NIO). The successful applicant will bring significant experience in the biomedical research sector and will play active roles in our licensing team and ethical review committee (AWERB).             <p id="isPasted">We are excited to be expanding our animal care team by recruiting a full-time Animal Technician to cover maternity leave within the department. The successful candidate will be passionate about animal welfare and research excellence and looking for an exciting opportunity to join an ambitious, forward-thinking and vibrant multi-species, multi-site team at a leading research University.&nbsp;</p><p>The successful candidate must be able to take independent responsibility for the welfare of the animals in their care and contribute to the training of trainee and research staff as required. An essential requirement will be to ensure effective liaison with and support of Nottingham&rsquo;s research community, including advising on welfare requirements and the 3Rs (replacement, reduction, and refinement). You must already hold the Institute for Animal Technology Level 2 Diploma or have equivalent experience. All candidates must have good communication and organisational skills and be able to demonstrate a vocational and responsible approach to working with animals.&nbsp;</p><p>This is a fixed-term (1 year), full-time (36.25 hours per week) post to cover maternity leave.
