About You

About the Research Team.

The research team consists of one postdoctoral researcher, six PhD students, and several undergraduate student helpers. In addition, we maintain a broad international network of collaborators. Prof. Hong Deng is a Chair Professor of Organizational Behavior at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC). Her research focuses on areas such as self-regulation in the workplace, employee-organization relationships, newcomer socialization, and work design. Her work has appeared in top-tier, peer-reviewed journals, including the Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology, Journal of Management, American Psychologist, and Journal of Personality and Social Psychology. Prof. Yanjun Guan is a Chair Professor at the Nottingham University Business School China, University of Nottingham Ningbo China, and a National Distinguished Chair Professor recognized by China's Overseas High-Level Talents Program. He earned his degrees from Peking University and The Chinese University of Hong Kong. His research interests cover career and organizational management, as well as cross-cultural management.In the field of career development and organizational management, Professor Guan's work has been published in top-tier management and applied psychology journals such as the Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology, Journal of Management, Journal of Vocational Behavior, and Journal of Organizational Behavior. About the Project

This project will advance theory and evidence on career management, self-regulation and strategic behavior in four ways. First, it will move beyond the field’s reliance on assimilative pathways and stay-or-leave dichotomies by offering a unified, theory-driven account of how individuals regulate aspirations, use resources and pursue opportunities in dynamic environments. Second, it will introduce and validate a comprehensive measurement system with strong psychometric properties, cross-cultural robustness and predictive validity across diverse career outcomes, thereby offering explanatory value beyond dominant models. Third, it will enhance methodological rigor in career strategy research through systematic item generation, multi-sample validation and stringent tests of incremental validity.

About the Project. This project focuses on research in Explainable Artificial Intelligence and Causal Machine Learning, applied to the intelligent monitoring and early warning of key water ecological environment indices, including prediction and management tasks. A network of reservoirs forms the backbone of the region’s water resource infrastructure, playing an essential role in ensuring urban water supply, mitigating flood risks, and supporting agricultural irrigation. However, the intricate interactions between natural hydrological cycles — such as precipitation and evaporation — and human operational controls, including release scheduling and storage regulation, introduce substantial complexity. This dynamic interplay makes the multi-reservoir system both ideal and challenging for developing advanced spatiotemporal forecasting models. By integrating causal inference with interpretable AI techniques, the project aims not only to improve prediction accuracy but also to uncover underlying cause-effect relationships, thereby enabling transparent, reliable early warnings for sustainable water resources development.

About the Project. This project will make several contributions to existing literature. First, it aims to develop a comprehensive, unified framework that not only unifies disparate conceptualizations of job search success but also unveils previously unexplored dimensions critically relevant to the evolving landscape of career development in the modern era. Second, we it will propose and test a multi-dimensional measure to assess job seekers’ subjective job search success. Its content validity will be substantiated by both qualitative and quantitative studies; its generalizability will be demonstrated by data collected from job seekers across diverse cultural backgrounds and employment status. Third, it will examine the specific effects of these dimensions on predicting job seekers’ subsequent career outcomes, which will enhance the understanding of how the various aspects of job search success collectively and independently influence career sustainability. These findings not only fill a void in the existing literature but also serve as a crucial foundation for the development of more targeted, evidence-based strategies in career management and talent management.

About You

Candidates must have a PhD in computer science or closely related disciplines, together with an international reputation in research and scholarship. Your Responsibility

Your key responsibilities include:

About Postdoctoral research station in Business Administration. Postdoctoral research station in Business Administration was approved to establish in Nov 2023. About the Research Team.

Prof. Jie Yu (Joseph) is currently a professor in Information Systems, as well as the Associate Dean for Global Engagement and Partnerships in the Nottingham University Business School China, University of Nottingham Ningbo China. His research interests include AI and business analytics, E-commerce, and social media. His works have been published in top international journals including Information Systems Research, Journal of Management Information Systems, Journal of the Associations for Information Systems, Information Systems Journal and Information & Management. He also works closely with industries such as Alibaba/Taobao, Duckbill Logistic Technology and cross-border e-commerce companies. About the Project.

This research project aims to explore innovative strategies for green supply chain management and carbon footprint optimization in the context of dual carbon goals—carbon peaking and carbon neutrality. By integrating Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles into supply chain management, we will analyze carbon emissions across various stages of the supply chain and propose actionable optimization strategies. This interdisciplinary approach seeks to enhance operational efficiencies, minimize greenhouse gas emissions, and support organizations in their transition towards a low-carbon economy.

You will be offered a fixed term contract with University of Nottingham Ningbo China for 2 years. You will be offered a minimum annual salary package of RMB269,906 with competitive benefits package. About the Role

The School of Education and English is now looking for an ambitious, talented, and experienced academic with a passion for teaching at the undergraduate and post-graduate levels to join its team of teachers and scholars in the field of Applied Linguistics and Literature.
