            <p id="isPasted">The University of Nottingham is seeking a practical and enthusiastic individual to assist in funded research projects that aim to reduce methane emissions and increase the feed efficiency and welfare of dairy cattle. Your role involves working with other technical staff and researchers based at the Sutton Bonington campus. This role involves managing the feeding and evaluation of dairy cattle. You will be responsible for the maintenance and calibration of machinery designed to feed dairy cattle, and the observation, sampling and handling of dairy cattle. Your role will involve data recording, sample collection, use of Microsoft products and evaluation. The role will involve some weekend work, for which you will receive competitive remuneration. &nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;Some of the main duties and responsibilities will include:</p><ul type="disc"><li>Use, calibrate and maintain equipment associated with the feeding and management of dairy cattle, including individual feeding equipment, sample collection, and measurement equipment.</li><li>Support academic staff, students, and technicians in animal handling, diet feeding, and the setting up and operation of feeding and monitoring equipment, along with sample collection, processing, and data collation.</li><li>Assist in the daily husbandry requirements of the dairy cow and calf research units, in particular the feeding of animals, and occasional associated weekend work.</li><li>Support academic staff and technical team in the delivery of technology transfer events</li></ul><p>&nbsp;The successful candidate will have the following;</p><ul type="disc"><li>Experience in the maintenance and operation of feeding equipment and working with dairy cattle</li><li>Computer literate, with experience in using Microsoft Office suite applications.</li><li>High attention to detail</li><li>Ability to work on own initiative to plan and manage own workload, and work as part of a team</li></ul><p>#LI-DNI</p><p>#INT</p>

            <p id="isPasted">An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Teaching Support Technician within the School of Veterinary Medicine and Science, based at our Sutton Bonington Campus. This is a permanent, full-time role (36.25 hours per week) supporting the delivery of practical teaching sessions for veterinary students.</p><p>The core responsibilities of this role include supporting the running of the school&rsquo;s animal facilities, with a particular focus on small animals, and assisting in the delivery of high-quality husbandry and welfare practices in line with the University&rsquo;s gold standard. As a key member of our technical team, you will help ensure that practical classes, including clinical skills, live animal sessions (small and large), dissection, cadaver surgery, and laboratory-based teaching are fully resourced and run efficiently. Responsibilities will include preparing and clearing materials and equipment, maintaining appropriate stock levels of consumables, and ensuring that all teaching areas remain clean, organised, and safe. Strict compliance with Health and Safety regulations, including the safe disposal of clinical and biohazardous waste, is an essential aspect of the role.</p><p><strong>About you</strong></p><p>We are looking for a proactive and adaptable individual with good communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. You should have a basic understanding of animal husbandry and the principles of biology or anatomy and be physically capable of lifting and moving items over 10kg. Essential requirements include GCSEs (grade C or above) in Maths and English or equivalent, or relevant experience in a similar technical role, along with a full UK manual driving licence. Basic IT skills and knowledge of Health and Safety procedures are also required. This role is essential in supporting the delivery of practical teaching sessions for veterinary students, ensuring that all classes are fully resourced, safe, and well organised.&nbsp;</p><p>The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and maintaining teaching environments, including setting up and clearing away materials and equipment for dissection, cadaver surgery, and other practical classes. Duties also include the preparation of teaching specimens, operation and maintenance of apparatus and machinery, stock management, and ensuring compliance with Health and Safety regulations. This includes the safe disposal of clinical and biohazard waste, as well as maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of laboratories, equipment, and student facilities. The role involves operating laundry facilities to provide clean protective clothing for cadaver-based sessions, along with routine record keeping and data input. The technician will also support logistics by driving school vehicles to collect materials from abattoirs and clinical practices, and by monitoring vehicle condition and reporting any issues.&nbsp;</p><p><strong>About you</strong></p><p>We are seeking a candidate with strong communication skills, a proactive and flexible approach to work, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.             <p id="isPasted">We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join two dynamic research groups working with Plasmodium berghei. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands‑on laboratory work, values accuracy, and is keen to develop specialist skills within a supportive research environment. You will join a highly skilled and supportive technical team who work together to deliver high‑quality research support across the School.</p><p>You will provide essential day‑to‑day technical support within busy research laboratories, helping to ensure that experiments run smoothly and that researchers have the resources they need. Working under the guidance of senior colleagues, you will carry out routine molecular biology and tissue culture procedures, maintain laboratory buffers and stocks, and keep accurate, well‑organised records.</p><p>You will also take part in routine mosquito breeding experiments and contribute to research meetings, gaining valuable experience in parasitology and vector biology. As part of the wider technical community, you will support researchers, students, and fellow technicians, offering guidance and basic training in laboratory techniques and equipment use.</p><p>A key part of the role will be maintaining stock levels, preparing work areas, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, including COSHH and risk assessments. You will work flexibly as part of a team, using your initiative to manage your workload and respond to changing priorities.</p><p><strong>About You</strong></p><p>We are looking for someone who:</p><ul><li>Works accurately and methodically, even under pressure.</li><li>Is enthusiastic, adaptable, and keen to learn new techniques.</li><li>Has excellent communication skills and a strong understanding of health and safety.</li><li>Can use their initiative to solve routine problems and knows when to seek support.</li><li>Is comfortable lifting and moving laboratory consumables and equipment.</li><li>Has experience working in a laboratory environment.</li></ul><p>This is a Fixed Term role ending 31st December 2027.
