The LifeArc Rare Respiratory Disease Centre is a UK collaboration between the Universities of Edinburgh, Nottingham, Cambridge, Dundee, UCL and Southampton and is a comprehensive translational program for improving research, clinical care and quality of life for those living with rare lung diseases.&nbsp;</p><p>The main aim of this programme of work within the Rare Respiratory Disease Centre is to develop cell culture models of rare lung diseases including lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM). Characterise their properties and suitability for high throughput drug screening. In addition, you will plan and oversee the day-to-day running of laboratories, allocating resources and providing technical supervision and training in the use of equipment and techniques to relevant staff and students to ensure objectives are met. You will be responsible for the upkeep of designated research laboratories as well as the use and maintenance of equipment. The duties and percentage time allocation provides an indication and framework for the role and should not be regarded as a definitive list or allocation.             <p id="isPasted"><strong>INTERNAL VACANCY</strong></p><p><strong>This vacancy is open to employees of the University of Nottingham only.</strong></p><p id="isPasted"><strong>Are you an architect or researcher passionate about the long-term adaptability of historic tenements?</strong></p><p>We are seeking a Research Assistant with a strong interest in the architectural and urban history of European tenements from the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The role supports the Leverhulme Trust-funded project <em>&ldquo;European Tenement Biographies and the Long-Term Success of Housing Design&rdquo;</em>, led by Dr Katharina Borsi (University of Nottingham) and Prof Florian Urban (Glasgow School of Art).</p><p>The project investigates how historic tenements in six European cities&mdash;Barcelona, Berlin, Copenhagen, Glasgow, Krakow and Paris&mdash;have adapted over time, and what these transformations reveal about sustainable and resilient housing today. Through comparative &ldquo;building biographies,&rdquo; the research examines construction methods, materials, retrofits, environmental performance and changing patterns of occupation across approximately 150 years. The aim is to understand the reasons behind the typological continuity, social flexibility and architectural resilience of tenement housing.</p><p>We seek an architect or architectural researcher with strong analytical skills and the ability to contribute independently to a major international project.</p><p><strong>Essential skills, knowledge and experience:</strong></p><ul type="disc"><li>Architectural practice experience, or a PhD in architecture/architectural history (or thesis submitted by the start date); equivalent research expertise may also be considered</li><li>Excellent architectural skills and competencies in typological and morphological analysis, contextual and site analysis, and an understanding of construction methods, materials, adaptations and long-term transformations</li><li>Strong skills in architectural drawing and visual representation</li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills</li></ul><p><strong>Desirable skills and experience:</strong></p><ul type="disc"><li>Knowledge of tenement architecture in at least one case study city, or strong familiarity with European late nineteenth- and early twentieth‑century residential architecture</li><li>Experience in archival research, publication or architectural practice</li><li>Ability to speak one of the languages used in the case‑study cities</li></ul><p>This post offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a comparative research project at the forefront of architectural and urban history.             <p id="isPasted"><strong>INTERNAL VACANCY</strong></p><p><strong>This vacancy is open to employees of the University of Nottingham only.</strong></p><p><strong>About the role</strong></p><p>The role will involve conducting analytical work and collaborating closely with the principal investigator and Career Consultants in the Careers and Employability Service on data interpretation, benchmarking and report writing. &nbsp;This includes gathering and systematic analysis of large-scale administrative data, as well as reviewing and interpreting existing evaluations and datasets. &nbsp;The role holder will be responsible for writing up findings into reports and grey literature publications, such as national policy blogs. &nbsp;This position offers the opportunity to use initiative and creativity to develop innovative approaches and expand your professional experience.</p><p><strong>About the team</strong></p><p>The Careers Service works in collaboration with the principal investigator and Career Consultants in advancing the positioning and evaluation of the Careers Service support for Research staff, as part of the REC-HURDLES Project. &nbsp;You will be working closely with the Careers Service Consultants and the PI. &nbsp;The Team have been working on the REC-HURDLES Project since 2024. &nbsp;We work in partnership with academics, employers, the Researcher Academy and ESE colleagues to deliver a robust offering for our researchers. With Wellcome Trust funding, we have developed targeted, evidence-informed support to address the lack of career confidence among researchers.</p><p><strong>About you</strong></p><p>It is expected that you will have experience of working in a research setting and be able to collaborate with academic and professional services staff to identify REF value emerging from Career Service activities. &nbsp;To liaise with internal stakeholders (e.g., Researcher Academy, EDI teams, Communications) to ensure thorough analysis and build internal and/or external contacts to develop knowledge and understanding, forming relationships for future collaborations. &nbsp;Collect and analyse internal and external data related to careers service performance. &nbsp;Compare service metrics against national and international benchmarks (e.g., AGCAS, HESA, Graduate Outcomes).
