Main duties include:

You will work within a team that seeks to secure bonds with children and their families that then supports our little ones in achieving outstanding outcomes. We aim to offer the most fun and exciting opportunities possible whilst preparing them for their next adventures. This is where you will use your in-depth knowledge and experience to deliver exhilarating and thought-provoking learning opportunities for children, using the indoor and outdoor environment as the third teacher. Your experience with supporting children with English as an additional language is of benefit but not essential.

Hours of Work

The role is for 23.4 hours (3 days), Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 8.00 am to 6.00 pm (shift system). Some flexibility. An in-depth induction will support you in your role.

About the role

We are seeking an appropriately qualified, experienced and committed individual to lead our team of student safeguarding practitioners and cross-University Safeguarding Leads, working closely with the Director of Student Experience (University Designated Safeguarding Lead).

The purpose of the role is to ensure appropriate management of, and response to, safeguarding matters (including Prevent concerns) as they relate to the student community. You will oversee case management and effective response to incidents and concerns reported through the University’s “Report and Support” and safeguarding systems. You are also responsible for delivering training and for maintaining the University’s Safeguarding Policy and related procedures. There may also be a requirement to support the response to critical incidents and situations such as the serious injury or death of a student.

You will work collaboratively with colleagues across the institution and externally, to ensure university systems are robust and that support is put in place for all members of the University who are impacted by issues.

About you

With a relevant professional qualification, such as Registered Social Worker, you will have strong knowledge of regulatory and legislative frameworks that apply to safeguarding, harassment and equality in a higher education setting.

You will have demonstrable understanding and experience of managing and supervising response to safeguarding incidents, with strong interpersonal and communication skills, particularly in responding to people in distress and difficulty. You will also have strong networking skills and ability to build positive relationships with staff across the institution to ensure an effective and co-ordinated safeguarding framework.

This is a permanent, full-time post of 36.25 hours per week. This role is based on University Park campus and will be offered on a hybrid basis working. Typically, you will be expected to work at least three days per week on campus. However, you will be expected to work flexibly as the role demands and be on site when required. You will also be work out of hours on occasion.

As a charity the Students’ Union has a Board of Trustees which is responsible for the governance, management, strategy and budget of the Students’ Union.  The Trustees currently consist of our full-time elected Student Officers and 4 appointed Lay Trustees, along with 4 appointed Student Trustees.  The daily work of the Students’ Union is directed by elected Student Officers, with advice and support from staff.  The Officer team is made up of full-time sabbatical Officers. Each Officer has their own portfolio of individual responsibilities as well as holding the shared responsibility for creating changes which will improve the lives of students at the University.

The Students' Union employs over two hundred and fifty staff in its Commercial, Membership and Central Services.  Over half of our staff are students who balance work with their studies and social lives.  Other staff work full-time, some are part-time, and some are required only during term-time and work for just part of the year.  If you like working in a vibrant and fast changing environment with passionate students excited about their experience, you will enjoy working for the University of Nottingham Students' Union.

The Role

We’re looking for a highly organised, commercially minded and proactive Venues Supervisor to support the running of our student bar, Mooch.  Hosting weekly student favourite activities such as the quiz and karaoke, we offer great value drinks and food to all of our customers in a stylish venue with large outside terrace.

You’ll work closely with the Assistant Venues Manager to ensure the operation runs smoothly, including supporting our student staff team to excel in the service of our customers, having direct input to our menus and activity programme and contributing to staff training and development.  

This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone wanting to develop their hospitality skillset in a fun and diverse environment.  You will support with the management of stock and ensure compliance with licensing and health and safety standards including food hygiene and allergens.  Training is provided and will include food hygiene, licencing and health and safety, with nationally recognised courses where applicable.

The successful candidate will have a good level of experience working within the hospitality industry, leading a team, using their initiative and excellent communication skills.  

The hours worked are during University term time, however there will be a minimal amount of hours to be worked out of term time by agreement.
