You will join a team of professionals caring for children of students and staff at the university. This is an opportunity to be part of a friendly and diverse group of people who encourage you to share your experience to enable the team to grow and develop together.&nbsp;</p><p>We are located on the beautiful University Park campus with some stunning natural features, which also allows us to offer our forest school on the doorstep.&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Main duties include:</strong></p><p>You will work within a team that seeks to secure bonds with children and their families that then supports our little ones in achieving outstanding outcomes. We aim to offer the most fun and exciting opportunities possible whilst preparing them for their next adventures. This is where you will use your in-depth knowledge and experience to deliver exhilarating and thought-provoking learning opportunities for children, using the indoor and outdoor environment as the third teacher. Your experience with supporting children with English as an additional language is of benefit but not essential.&nbsp;</p><p>It is a requirement of the post that a satisfactory enhanced disclosure is obtained and that all employment checks are met prior to employment.&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Hours of Work</strong></p><p>The role is for 23.4 hours (3 days), Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 8.00 am to 6.00 pm (shift system). Some flexibility.             <p><strong><em>PLEASE NOTE THIS VACANCY IS INTERNAL TO CURRENT EMPLOYEES OF THE UNIVERSITY ONLY</em></strong></p><p id="isPasted"><strong>About the role</strong></p><p>We are seeking an appropriately qualified, experienced and committed individual to lead our team of student safeguarding practitioners and cross-University Safeguarding Leads, working closely with the Director of Student Experience (University Designated Safeguarding Lead).</p><p>The purpose of the role is to ensure appropriate management of, and response to, safeguarding matters (including Prevent concerns) as they relate to the student community. You will oversee case management and effective response to incidents and concerns reported through the University&rsquo;s &ldquo;Report and Support&rdquo; and safeguarding systems. You are also responsible for delivering training and for maintaining the University&rsquo;s Safeguarding Policy and related procedures. There may also be a requirement to support the response to critical incidents and situations such as the serious injury or death of a student.</p><p>You will work collaboratively with colleagues across the institution and externally, to ensure university systems are robust and that support is put in place for all members of the University who are impacted by issues.</p><p><strong>About you</strong></p><p>With a relevant professional qualification, such as Registered Social Worker, you will have strong knowledge of regulatory and legislative frameworks that apply to safeguarding, harassment and equality in a higher education setting.</p><p>You will have demonstrable understanding and experience of managing and supervising response to safeguarding incidents, with strong interpersonal and communication skills, particularly in responding to people in distress and difficulty. You will also have strong networking skills and ability to build positive relationships with staff across the institution to ensure an effective and co-ordinated safeguarding framework.</p><p>This is a permanent, full-time post of 36.25 hours per week. This role is based on University Park campus and will be offered on a hybrid basis working. Typically, you will be expected to work at least three days per week on campus. However, you will be expected to work flexibly as the role demands and be on site when required. There is a diverse range of social, cultural, sporting and recreational activities and many opportunities for personal development. &nbsp;We work with and support events and activities through the student committees of over 400 societies, 75 sports clubs, media groups and other student communities and we facilitate many student volunteers to take part in community projects. &nbsp;Through our trading company, UNU Services Limited, we run two SPAR shops, a bar, coffee shop and a clothing shop as well as holding a wide range of large events and working in partnership with a range of national and local businesses to enrich the student experience on our campuses. Our annual financial turnover, for the charity and trading company combined is in excess of &pound;11m annually.&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>As a charity the Students&rsquo; Union has a Board of Trustees which is responsible for the governance, management, strategy and budget of the Students&rsquo; Union. &nbsp;The Trustees currently consist of our full-time elected Student Officers and 4 appointed Lay Trustees, along with 4 appointed Student Trustees. &nbsp;The daily work of the Students&rsquo; Union is directed by elected Student Officers, with advice and support from staff. &nbsp;The Officer team is made up of full-time sabbatical Officers.
