The Midlands Centre for Data-driven Metrology (MCDDM) is hosted by the University of Nottingham. The Centre engages academics from Nottingham (Manufacturing Metrology Team – MMT), Loughborough and Coventry with a broad range of industrial partners to deliver on the underpinning research, services and training agenda, to enable the adoption of data-driven metrology in advanced manufacturing industries.

We seek a Research and Engagement Associate to deliver the full pipeline of short research projects to new and existing industry collaborators. The R&E Associate will be responsible for utilising the available resources in the team and the wider University to engage small and medium enterprises in metrology research and deliver short projects through the MCDDM remit. The post holder will also support the General Manager and Principal Investigator in the organisation and promotion of events and outreach to disseminate work done. 

The candidate should have a degree in engineering, physics, computer science or related disciplines, and be on track to achieve a postgraduate qualification in one of these fields. Applicants should be able to show a working knowledge of metrology as a field and be willing to engage in learning to specialise this interest. Experience engaging SME businesses in fundamental research would be advantageous, as would knowledge of public funding for research to develop short projects into larger research endeavours.

The hours of work are full-time (36.25 hours); however, applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 18.13 hours per week). Please specify in your application if you wish to work part time and the number of preferred hours. Arrangements for job share would be considered. This role is available on a fixed term basis until 30th September 2023.
