Applications are invited for a self-motivated and ambitious Research Associate/Fellow to develop and apply mass spectrometry-based metabolomics/fluxomics methods to support the Green Chemicals Beacon of Excellence within the Centre for Analytical Bioscience (CAB) facility, School of Pharmacy. The role will involve experimental support, data analysis and data reporting/visualisation and integration of fluxomics data with metabolic pathways.  The main area of application will be in bacterial metabolic engineering and use of stable isotope assisted metabolomics/fluxomics methods to generate mathematical models of metabolic flux. Supervision of a mass spectrometry technician will be part of the role. 

The Green Chemicals Beacon is bringing together world-leading expertise in synthetic and computational biology to harness the power of the genome by reprogramming microorganisms to transform materials at a cellular level. The new Green Chemicals Analytical Facility will host a suite of mass spectrometry facilities to deliver high quality analytical data on metabolic profiling and flux in microorganisms.

You need to have a PhD submitted or awarded in analytical science/mass spectrometry or an equivalent related field and extensive experience in metabolomics/fluxomics using a range of instrumentation including high resolution MS and quantitative MS. You need to demonstrate excellence in research and independent working, with a positive attitude towards communication, collaboration and interdisciplinary working. 

This full time post is offered on a fixed-term contract for a period of 36 months.
