About Centre for English Language Education (CELE)

Since the development of the Nottingham Ningbo campus in 2004, the Centre for English Language Education (CELE) has aimed to promote high-quality EAP teaching in its structure and support of academic programmes delivered in China. With around 90 academic staff, the CELE operation at UNNC is now one of most well-renowned of its kind globally, currently supporting students on UNNC Preliminary Year modules, presessionals, summer schools and in-sessional language and academic skills support programmes.

Tutors will primarily join the team responsible for delivering a portfolio of intensive EAP classes and continuing support to students. However, dependent on individual tutors’ aptitude and experience, there is also scope for involvement in specific projects around teacher training, curriculum or assessment design, and the design and delivery of bespoke training packages in various aspects of ESP. 

Main Responsibilities

• Teaching up to a maximum of 18 hours per week (to agreed standards from a given syllabus) on both credit-bearing and support EAP/ESP courses, as required. 
• Working week to also include approx. 14 hours of teaching preparation, marking and feedback as required, and other administrative duties relating to teaching (standardisation, report writing, attendance of regular course and general meetings).
• To participate in assessments and to act as invigilator in such examinations as required.
• Pastoral and academic care of students via an established personal tutorial system.
• To contribute to course and curriculum development and design, including course management, where appropriate.
• To take part in and contribute to staff development activities consistent with continuous professional development.

Person Specification (Essential)

• Completed MA/MSc in TESOL / ELT / Applied Linguistics (or equivalent). Evidence of an assessed teaching practicum contained therein.

Your Remuneration, Benefits and Support

Dr. Huiming Song joined UNNC to work in accounting and Finance department in March 2016. Before joining UNNC, she have accumulated more than 14 years’ work experience in accounting and finance sector. This includes 7 years in Ireland, where Dr Song had worked in the accounting firm (Moore Stephens international, Dublin office), as a supervisor in their corporate finance department. After that, Dr Song joined bank of New York Mellon, Dublin office, working as a manager in the financial reporting department of Mutual fund. In year 2009, she returned to China and started my first CFO role in a Sino-USA joint venture based in Ningbo, after that she joined Alibaba global headquarter in Hangzhou, as a director in charge of the overseas and domestic M&As and post M&A integration and Financial reporting. This experience promoted her to start financial advisory career, she set up an international business department in BDO, specialize in assisting Chinese enterprises to do cross-border M&As and listing in overseas stock exchange. About the Project. This longitudinal project investigates the implementation of AI-empowered chronic disease management systems in hospitals. It examines human-AI collaboration and the "boundaries of work" between humans and algorithms across four key stakeholder groups: frontline healthcare workers, patients and family members, hospital administrators, and system developers. The project explores how clinical tasks are negotiated and delegated, addressing critical issues such as algorithmic trust, alert fatigue, professional autonomy, privacy concerns, and organizational integration. Adopting a mixed-methods approach with a strong emphasis on qualitative inquiry, the project combines in-depth interviews, ethnographic observation, and focus groups with longitudinal surveys and system log analysis. Notably, this project includes teaching case writing as a core component, with teaching cases to be developed and submitted to leading repositories, alongside journal publications in leading information systems or healthcare outlets.

NUBS China currently has over 3,621 Chinese and international students with around 894 enrolled in postgraduate programmes including PhD programme. We have a diverse international faculty of 111, based in Ningbo China, coming from 18 countries and regions. Your key responsibilities include:

• To take the lead on, plan, develop and conduct individual and/or collaborative research objectives, projects and proposals either as an individual or as part of a broader programme.
• To establish a national reputation and regularly disseminate and explain research findings through leading peer-reviewed national publications (on a sustained basis), conferences and other appropriate media.
• To deliver teaching across a range of modules or within a subject area, providing curriculum leadership within own area of expertise.
• Be responsible for the design of modules and/or programmes of study in specialist area and for their quality. Where appropriate identify the need for developing the content or structure of existing modules and make proposals on how this should be achieved.
• To supervise and examine Postgraduate, Masters and PhD students.

About You

NUBS China seeks to appoint proactive, mature academics who are self-driven and results-oriented, resilient and creative, with internationally recognised intellectual contributions in the relevant subject area.

Candidates should have:

• PhD in business analytics or relevant subject area.
• Good potential/track record of publishing high-quality research in international peer-reviewed journals.
• Experience of teaching relevant subjects at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level in an international English-speaking institution.
• Ability to secure internal and external research funding.

We also look for academic leaders who have strong evidence of attracting research funding and/or leading research projects; proven ability to mentor junior researchers, strong research networking to attract people and research funding. Editorial experience at leading international journals is advantageous.

Your Remuneration, Benefits and Support

Successful candidate will be offered a five-year contract that may be extended by mutual agreement. Salary will be within the range of 454,692 RMB to 598,744 RMB per annum, depending on qualifications and experience (salary progression beyond this is subject to performance). In addition, you will have a range of benefits and entitlements, including accommodation allowance, insurances, schooling support, home flight, relocation & repatriation support, and paid annual leave. You will be offered a wider range of Chinese talent schemes application opportunities based on the eligibility of application. If you have reached the statuary retirement age stated in Chinese Regulation, a service agreement will be offered instead.
