            <p id="isPasted"><strong>INTERNAL VACANCY</strong></p><p><strong>This vacancy is open to employees of the University of Nottingham only.</strong></p><p id="isPasted">The University of Nottingham is seeking a motivated, experienced and proactive Health and Safety Officer to join our Health &amp; Safety Department, with a focus on monitoring, auditing and continuous improvement across our operations.&nbsp;</p><p>Reporting to the Head of Health and Safety, you&rsquo;ll work closely with colleagues across the Health and Safety team, academic and professional service departments, and senior stakeholders to help embed a positive safety culture across the University. A typical day might involve carrying out an inspection in one of our laboratories or workshops, writing up findings for department leads, reviewing a risk assessment, or investigating an incident.</p><p><strong>The role will see you:</strong></p><ul><li>Carrying out inspections and audits across University sites, producing clear written reports for relevant stakeholders.</li><li>Investigating accidents and near misses, ensuring all incidents are accurately recorded and reported.</li><li>Reviewing risk assessments as part of our monitoring processes.</li><li>Keeping Health &amp; Safety Management System documentation accurate, up to date and accessible to those who need it.</li><li>Coordinating engagement with key stakeholders across the University and helping share good practice more widely.</li><li>Working collaboratively with colleagues in a range of roles, from academic departments to senior leadership.</li></ul><p><strong>You will:</strong></p><ul><li>Hold a NEBOSH General Certificate, or an NVQ Level3/4 in Occupational Health and Safety.</li><li>Have experience conducting inspections, audits, or investigations in a similar setting.</li><li>Have strong communication skills, with the confidence to liaise effectively with stakeholders at all levels.</li><li>Have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint and Power BI</li><li>Have a proactive, detail-focused approach to problem solving.</li></ul><p><strong>What we offer:</strong></p><ul type="disc"><li>A friendly, diverse, and supportive working environment</li><li>A hybrid working arrangement with the blended approach of home and office working each week</li><li>Generous holiday entitlement of 30 days plus standard bank holidays and five university closure days including closure between Christmas and New Year.</li><li>Our reward scheme grants bonuses of numerous values for excellent work</li><li>We are committed to staff development through the provision of training, continued support, and career progression opportunities</li><li>You will have access to a range of benefits and rewards, including fitness and health facilities, staff discounts, travel schemes and many more. The University operates a hybrid working policy, allowing colleagues to work flexibly between home and campus locations, subject to operational needs and agreement with their line manager.&nbsp;</p><p>These are permanent roles, working 36.25 per week over five days (Monday to Friday).</p><p>Interviews will be held in person at University Park Campus in Nottingham.
